This year, 2014, marks 15th anniversary since The Ayers Foundation began fulfilling its mission, improving the quality of life for the people of Tennessee. As you will see in the achievements of our various programs, listed below, it’s been an amazing 15 years!
Since 1999 we have been privileged to help more students than we ever could have imagined with The Ayers Foundation Scholar’s Program. In fact, as of this year, we have awarded over 3,000 college scholarships, and invested in the future of our scholar’s program students and their families. We feel fortunate to have given so many students’ the opportunity to continue their education.
Located in Jackson, Tennessee, Ayers Children’s Medical Center has been a resource for West Tennessee families facing childhood illnesses. Whether for a quick visit, or a long stay, we have enjoyed seeing the journeys towards better health for the children of West Tennessee. What began as our $5 million pledge has led to an expansion in pediatric services, including a Pediatric Specialist Outpatient Clinic, and a variety of educational classes and family resources.
Established on July 1, 2005, The Ayers Institute at Vanderbilt, whose research will affect the lives of cancer patients for decades to come, is making and ever increasing contribution to the body of knowledge about cancer. Since 2005, the science of diagnostics has continued to be advanced, directly because of the diligent work of research teams at The Ayers Institute at Vanderbilt.
We are excited by the work of Centerstone Research Institute, where The Knowledge Network is making strides to improve the fields of mental and behavioral healthcare. Because of our partnership and commitment, more Americans are getting better access to effective behavioral health care, without excessive delays.
Lastly, we are overjoyed to witness the success of The Ayers Institute for Teacher Learning and Innovation at Lipscomb University. This latest endeavor will continue our mission to improve education in Tennessee. Most recently, a $1 million gift from the Ayers Foundation has made a new partnership program and scholarships available for aspiring school leaders throughout the region to earn an educational leadership master’s or education specialist degree with administrative licensure from Lipscomb University’s College of Education. These Ayers Leadership Fellows will change the landscape of education in Tennessee.
Over the past 15 years, it has been incredible to work together with many dedicated partners, changing the lives of many Tennesseans, in ever expanding ways. Thank you to all of our partners for helping us make a difference in Tennessee. As we continue to celebrate our 15th anniversary, throughout 2014, we invite you to visit our website often to review our progress and innovation.
