Position: The Ayers Foundation Scholars Program Retention Coach
Location: Jackson State Community College- Lexington Campus
Plans, directs and coordinates administration of TN Promise, retention, and completion for The Ayers Scholars Program for the benefit of students graduating from Ayers Foundation High Schools. Able to see the “big picture” to best meet the needs of the students and the Foundation’s mission.
The responsibilities and duties of the College Retention Coach may include but are not limited to: meeting with each student individually to identify needs to enter or remain in post-secondary education, work with post-secondary institutions on the behalf of the students, help students find and apply for all forms of financial aid, maintain a high level of pride in work and accepts responsibilities for actions and decisions, and monthly contacts with at-risk students.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors degree or higher. Five years of counseling experience preferred.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of database management, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Salesforce, Internet and email.
Ability to read and interpret documents for administration of financial assistance and applications for post-secondary institutions. Ability to maintain database of statistical foundation information. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents/guardians, and educational institutions effectively.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form.
Compensation: Salary based on experience and qualifications of applicant. Benefits include: insurance, 401K, paid holidays, vacation, personal, and sick time. Position is full-time, 12 months.
