Position: College Access Counselor
Plans, directs, and coordinates administration of TAF Rural Expansion Foundation’s Ayers Scholars Program Model for the benefit of students. Able to see the “big picture” to best meet the needs of the students and the Foundation’s mission.
The responsibilities and duties of the College Access Counselor may include but are not limited to: meeting with each student and family individually to identify needs to enter or remain in post-secondary education, work with post-secondary institutions on behalf of the students, help students find and apply for all forms of financial aid, and maintain a high level of pride in work and accepts responsibilities for actions and decisions. The College Access Counselor will also be responsible for providing ongoing services to students and their families throughout postsecondary to ensure completion.
Education and/or Experience:
Masters degree or higher; Masters degree with concentration in School Counseling preferred.
Five years of counseling experience preferred.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of database management, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Salesforce, Internet and email.
Ability to read and interpret documents for administration of financial assistance and applications for post-secondary institutions. Ability to maintain database of statistical foundation information. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents/guardians, and educational institutions.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form.
Salary will be similar to the school system pay scale. Benefits include: insurance, 401K, paid holidays, personal time off. Position is full-time, 12 months.
